Samuel H. Kress Foundation Award for International Exchange

Thanks to the generosity of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the Art Libraries Society of North America offers a program to help fund international travel and promote the exchange of ideas and information among art librarians. Exceptional art information professionals will receive awards beginning at the amount of $1,500* USD to attend conferences, thereby fostering communication and developing connections with international projects and initiatives.  

There are two categories of awards:

  • For European librarians and art information professionals to attend the annual conference of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA). The 51st annual Art Libraries Society of North America conference will be held in from April 18-21, 2023 in Mexico City, Mexico.
  • For ARLIS/NA members to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Art Libraries Satellite Meeting or another European art library conference. IFLA will hold their World Library and Information Congress August 21-25, 2023 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

*The Samuel H. Kress International Travel Awards Committee may take into consideration levels of need, participation, and travel costs before determining the final amount, but each award will begin with the $1,500 USD amount.

The deadline for applications will be in late 2022 or early 2023.
