Catalina Perez Melendez

She works as a cataloging specialist at the DGBSID for the UNAM library network.
As a librarian, curator and art history specialist, Catalina Perez has participated in various
curatorial initiatives and in the organization of exhibitions. Among her lines of research: curatorship of metadata for the artistic practices, local history of photobooks, cataloging and editoriality of art publications, urban art, artistic practices in Brazil, among others.
Coordinated the metadata curatorship of the repository "Colección Digital
M68: ciudadanías en movimiento'' of the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco during 2018.
In January 2020 she completed a research residency in Editorialidad del Arte Contemporáneo in São Paulo, Brazil, as part of her interests to inscribe the curatorial sphere in the field of local libraries. During 2021 she coordinated the cycle of talks Márgenes: editorialidad independiente en América Latina, which she organized in collaboration with the National College of Librarians.
She has given workshops on metadata curation and cataloging for academic programs at the Centro Cultural España in Mexico, Patrimonio en un bit of the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (UNAM) and the Alfredo Harp Helú Oaxaca Foundation. She has collaborated
in art cataloging and documentation projects. She has collaborated in art cataloging and documentation projects. Currently, collaborates with BRUMA Laboratoria, an artistic space in Xalapa to accompany the to accompany the generation of a BIBAVO (library-archive) as an act of situated knowledge of humidity. She participates as curator in the pedagogical activation of the publication directed to children 'Hacemos nuestro río' (Casa Gallina, 2022) in which she served as editor. During 2023 she has served as co-curator of the exhibition Hacemos nuestro río (USBI Puerto de Veracruz, Museo de Geología de la UNAM, Galería R. Alva de la Canal, Xalapa).
