Call for Papers: We are excited to invite case studies for our forthcoming ACRL book, Children are Welcome Here: Designing Spaces, Policies, & Services to Support Student Parents in the Academic Library (working title), with an anticipated publication date of Fall 2023. If you are an academic librarian who has experience with student parents, we invite you to share your stories, experiences, anecdotes or case studies regarding the presence and needs of parenting students at your institutions. These 100-400 word commentaries will be used throughout the book to illustrate content.

  • Description: This four-week course will consider what information literacy instruction can be in a world increasingly beset by misinformation and disinformation, with a particular focus on ways to take a more holistic approach to information literacy instruction by integrating critical information literacy, metaliteracy, and mindfulness into our pedagogical work. Critical information literacy, with its focus on the context in which information is produced and disseminated, metaliteracy, with its focus on empowering individuals to consider their own unique role in an information ecosystem, and mindfulness, with its focus on self-reflection and self-awareness, can all be incredibly powerful ways to gain a deeper understanding into how misinformation functions.
• ACRL Online Course: 13 Things in Instructional Design for Library Instructors
  • Dates: June 6 - July 1, 2022

  • Description:  This online course offers a unique approach to instructional design specifically for library instructors. Using their prior knowledge and the context of their institutions, learners will identify what components of instructional design that are particularly relevant to them and then develop those skills accordingly. The four-week course will include asynchronous work culminating in a final project that may be completed individually, in pairs, or in groups.
