2015 Distinguished Service Award

 The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) is pleased to announce Ann Baird Whiteside as the 2015 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, the twenty-fifth person who has been honored. Ann is the librarian/assistant dean for information resources at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. The award was presented by Jolene de Verges and Mark Pompelia at the ARLIS/NA + VRA Joint Conference convocation ceremony held in Seattle, Washington on Friday March 11, 2016.

ARLIS/NA Endorses Carla Hayden for Librarian of Congress

The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) affirms the nomination by President Obama of Dr. Carla Hayden as the 14th Librarian of Congress. Dr. Hayden is a former president of the American Library Association (ALA) and the current chief executive officer of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland.

2015 George Wittenborn Memorial Book Award Winner

Kongo: Power and Majesty by Alisa LaGamma, an exhibition catalogue published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was awarded the 37th annual George Wittenborn Memorial Book Award at the Society’s annual conference held in Seattle, Washington, March 8-12, 2016. Established in 1980, the Wittenborn Award honors the memory of George Wittenborn, a premier New York art book dealer and publisher, and is given annually to North American publications demonstrating excellence in art publishing.
