ARLIS/NA annual conference, NYC

15 ARLIS/SC chapter
members attended the NYC chapter meeting.
Alyssa Resnick was presented the ARLIS/SC Travel Award. Plans were announced for a spring
gathering in downtown Los Angeles, where a tour of the Cathedral
and MoCA will be offered. Members
will also be invited to the VRA Summer Summit in July at UCSD. The chapter is also planning a
30th anniversary party for sometime in the Fall.
Fall Business Meeting

38 members and guests were in attendance of the Fall Business Meeting, which focused primarily on the Artists’ Book Conference Los Angeles that the chapter is planning for May 21-24 next year. Following the meeting was a roundtable discussion on collection development policies for artists’ books. Joyce Pellerano Ludmer, GRI Curator of Artists’ Books, presented a selection of artists’ books to the group.

ARLIS/SC, the Los Angeles Book Arts Center, and the Otis Laboratory Press sponsored a talk by book artists Keith Smith and Scott McCarney. 140 people were in attendance.
UCSD Summer Summit on Images
July 21, 2004
ARLIS/SC member met for lunch at the UCSD Faculty Club. During the summit, image providers, such as ARTstor and RLG Cultural Materials spoke about their products and plans for the future.
Tour of the Los Angeles Cathedral,
Our Lady of the Angeles and
Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA)
visit

20 members and friends attended the cathedral tour and MoCA visit. In addition to the guide from Our Lady of Angeles, Simon Toparovsky spoke to the group about his work Red Crucifix, one of the works commissioned by the Cathedral.
30th Anniversary Party

ARLIS Southern California members, both past and present gathered in Santa Monica at the art-filled home of Joan Benedetti to celebrate its 30-something anniversary and to recognize its founder—and long-time Southern California resident--Judith A. Hoffberg by naming the travel award in her honor.
