Chapter Meetings

Spring (May 26th, 2004)
Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA
Twenty four people attended – twenty three Chapter members and one guest.
In addition to the business meeting, there were three presentations that dealt with web page development at three separate libraries. Susan Davi, Head of Collection Development at the University of Delaware Library, Sara MacDonald, Public Service Librarian at the Greenfield Library, University of the Arts, and Lilah Mittelstaedt, Reference Librarian at the Philadelphia Museum of Art all talked about their particular experiences evaluating and assembling content for their library’s Web sites.

The elected Chapter President for 2004 (Ann Gardner) had to resign from her position. Kraig, Vice President for 2004, has agreed to serve as President for 2004. The Chapter’s Executive Committee acting in accordance with the Chapter bylaws (IV, C, 4), approached Cate Cooney who has agreed to serve as Vice President/ President Elect for 2004 and as President for 2005.  

Fall (October 26th, 2004)
Delaware College of Art and Design, Wilmington, DE
Seventeen people attended – 13 Chapter members and four guests.
In addition to the business meeting, there were two presentations that focused on renovation and construction projects. Kraig Binkowski presented a Powerpoint presentation detailing the trials and tribulations of a 2+ year renovation and construction project to the Delaware Art Museum, James Lecky, Director of DCAD, and Judy Donovan led the membership on a tour of the newly renovated DCAD library and school facility.

Chapter Activities

Outreach: ARLIS-DVC Delegates from several types of art libraries participated in an event at Drexel University’s College of Information Science and Technology in January 2004. The event, which had representation from other professional organizations (SLA), is designed to expose library science students to the advantages of professional organizations.

Additional Comments

The Chapter is very concerned about raising funds. The Chapter membership is pretty small so any fund-raising activity would have to include the general public in some way. Perhaps the Leadership breakfast would help us with some suggestions, but it would be wonderful if the National organization were able to provide smaller chapters with a series of fund-raising suggestions or examples.
