Narrative

At the close of 2004, Central Plains listed a total of 26 members.

Central Plains Chapter’s spring 2004 meeting was held June 10 - 12 in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the business meeting held at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art.  Susan Craig, University of Kansas, organized the meeting.  Suzy Frechette, CP member, in her role as ARLIS/NA regional representative provided a report on executive board news.  Chapter business included discussion of the developing plans for a joint meeting in October, 2005, with Mountain West Chapter in Santa Fe, NM.   Programming for the joint chapter meeting will include time at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and Research Center as well as the Institute of American Indian Arts.  Plans for other future meetings were discussed:  Fall, 2004, in Oklahoma City; Spring of 2005 in Omaha, NE.

A milestone for the Central Plains Chapter was achieved when the chapter website became active in September at http://arliscp.library.okstate.edu/.  Thanks go to Susan Bobo of Oklahoma State University for this achievement and for her commitment to the upkeep of the site.

The chapter’s fall meeting, planned for Oklahoma City, had to be cancelled.  Unfortunately, the availability of the speaker and venue were at odds with most members’ calendars.  When it became clear that attendance would be low, the meeting was cancelled and chapter business, including election of officers for 2005, was conducted by mail.

Suzy Frechette, regional rep, reported news from the executive board via e-mail.  Suzy shared the welcome news that the board authorized $500 to help defray costs of the Central Plains/Mountain West Joint Chapter Meeting in October, 2005.  Mountain West, as hosting chapter, will administer and account for the money.

ARLIS/NA Strategic Plan:  There are no action items before Central Plains Chapter.

Issues for the Executive Board:  The Central Plains Chapter appreciates the board’s support of the upcoming joint meeting with Mountain West Chapter.  There are no other issues for the board.
