The
ARLIS/NA web site continued to grow and develop in response to the needs of the
membership. 2003 was the first year
of operation of the Members-Only section of the site, which was launched with
password protection on 1st January.
This increases the security of the on-line membership directory which is
accessible through the Members-Only area. In
April an equivalent board-only website area was added to the site.
The
site was used as a means of communication with members and the wider public on
important topics such as the Resolution of the Art Libraries Society of North
America Concerning the Impact of the War in Iraq, which was posted on the home
page. It is hoped to develop this
dynamic aspect of the site during the coming year, as part of a more general
re-design.
Annual
reports were added to the site during the first quarter, and Executive Board
documentation continued to be added to the site throughout the year, as were the
6 annual issues of Update and 2 issues of Art Documentation Reviews with
accompanying dust-jacket images.
The Webmaster, Derek Crosley,
continued to provide an efficient and helpful service from his new base in Nova
Scotia, maintaining the server, keeping the Jobnet pages current, and setting up
on-line registration and payment forms where needed.
Other notable enhancements to the site during the year were:
new version of Policy Manual
Baltimore 2003 Conference Proceedings
revamped Publications pages
Society Circle page
Survey of Small Art Museum
Libraries
Finally, later in the year, preparations were made for the New York 2004 conference sub-site.
