Meetings:
Attended
annual ARLIS/NA Annual Meeting, Baltimore, MD. Mar. 20-26, 2003
ARLIS/NA Mid-Year Executive Board Meeting; Philadelphia, Aug. 26, 2003
PUBLICATIONS:
ARLIS/NA
Handbook and List of Members: Revised and updated it with Vicky Roper from
Headquarters and suggestions/corrections by Allen Townsend, Daniel Starr and
Jeanne Brown. Published in August 2003.
ARLIS/NA
Conference Proceedings: Received and formatted reports from the Baltimore
conference. Reports from sessions, committees and DSRTs were loaded on the ARLIS/NA
website by Jonathan Franklin throughout Spring, 2003.
I
also sent Jonathan new texts to be loaded on the website as replacements for
outdated text such as the new Special Liaisons list.
I
also sent Jonathan the Final Reports for the Baltimore, St. Louis, Los Angeles
and Vancouver conferences which the Board had decided should be placed in the
Board Only area of the website. They were loaded by Jonathan in July 2003.
I
also interacted with several Board members in various ways- primarily by
providing copies of documents from my term as Vice-Pres. & Pres. such as
financial documents relating to the LA and St. Louis conferences as well as
committee records, conference-related press releases and texts.
Asked
Jonathan Franklin to remove the outdated "Committee Chairs Handbook"
from the Members-only section of the ARLIS/NA website following email discussion
with Jeanne Brown.
COMMITTEE
ACTIVITIES:
Publications
Committee: met with the committee in Baltimore and contributed to the
discussion.
ISSUE
FOR THE BOARD:
Due
to the lateness of the issuance of the Handbook and Directory of Members, I
recommend issuing a 4-6 page update next year rather than doing an entirely new
Handbook and expending so much
money. I am afraid the
lateness will continue year after year because of the ARLIS/NA conference and
membership schedule. We give members up through the time of the conference to
renew their membership and therefore it is at least April-May before the first
draft is completed.
With
corrections in June and Blueline copy in July, publication will probably remain
in August.
