Brief narrative:
The rules for sponsorship of
sessions, which were set aside for the 2002 conference are now permanent,
therefore the Cataloging Section did not have to sponsor any sessions for the
upcoming conference in Baltimore in 2003. To
continue to show support for sessions on topics of concern for catalogers, the
moderator did send a call for proposals to relevant e-mail lists.
As the primary focus of this
group has been for some time to sponsor conference programs, the loss of this
function leaves a void in purpose. The
informal Cataloging Problems Discussion Group and the formal Cataloging Advisory
Committee flesh out the natural other roles for the Cataloging Section.
For this reason, the meeting for 2003 will revolve around exploring and
defining new functions for the group.
The column editor published a Cataloging Section column in two of the five issues of ARLIS/NA Update in 2002 and continued to post monthly lists of new art and architecture subject headings to the ARLIS-L. The Section’s web page editor kept the web page up to date for 2002 as well.
