The
committee’s most active conference contribution at the St. Louis Conference
was the lively discussion session lead by Tim Shipe. The topic was vendors and services outside of North America,
with particular emphasis on the use of vendors’ databases and web sites.
Representatives from Harrassowitz, Casalini Libri, Puvill Libros, and Aux
Amateurs de Livres were in attendance along with approximately fifty plus
attendees. At the end of the
session topics for future collection development programs and discussion
sessions were raised.
During
the year the “Core List of Architecture Periodicals” was updated by Joy
Kestenbaum.
The
committee proposed several programs for the 2003 annual conference.
These included a panel presentation and discussion of licensing
e-resources including the impact of UCITA on licensing and a workshop on storage
and weeding of collections. Neither proposal was accepted for the 2003 conference
program. Our scheduling request for discussion group session was approved and is
scheduled for March 21, 2003 at 5p.m.
In
September of 2002, the committee was informed that the Executive Board was
dissolving the Collection Development Committee as of the annual 2003
conference. The committee was
instructed to conclude existing projects and have its final meeting at the 2003
conference.
