The
Ohio Valley Chapter held a spring and a fall meeting in 2002. The spring meeting
was a joint one with the Great Lakes VRA Chapter on May 24th at the
University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky. The meeting included tours of the Lucille C. Little Fine Arts
Library and Learning Center and the William T. Young Library. A total of
eighteen members attended the business meeting.
The
fall meeting was held on October 11th at Cleveland State University,
Cleveland, Ohio. The meeting
included at presentation about the Cleveland Memory Project and a tour of the
CSU Special Collections Dept. Eight members attended the business meeting.
During
2002, two issues (spring and fall) of the chapter newsletter, COLLAGE, were
published. The chapter website was updated to reflect the new officers and to
include the latest issue of COLLAGE and the minutes from the current business
meeting.
The
chapter discussed at the Spring meeting the possibility of having only one
meeting a year at a central location in order to boost membership attendance.
The membership agreed that one meeting per year may be more feasible,
however, they preferred to have the meeting at a different hosting library.
No final action was taken on this agenda item and discussion was to
continue at the Fall meeting, however, due to low attendance at the Fall
meeting, the issue was not discussed.
The
chapter also discussed at the Spring meeting the possibility of creating a
shared database of vertical file information on local artists.
The discussion included the formation of a committee to further study the
proposal and discussion with OhioLink for support.
The committee was not able to get together at the Fall meeting and this
proposal will be discussed again at a future meeting.
At
the Fall meeting, the chapter discussed problems with the chapter listserv,
which is currently being hosted by the University of Pittsburgh.
The listserv moderator was in China for the fall and messages were not
being sent out. While this problem
resolved itself with the return of the listserv moderator, other alternatives
for hosting the listserv are continuing to be investigated.
A
nominating committee was formed at the Spring meeting to select a new
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect. The
Committee consisted of Jean Wellington of the University of Cincinnati and Kerri
Scannell, University of Kentucky. The
following candidate was nominated:
Shannon
Van Kirk, Miami University
A
total of 16 ballots were received all marked for Shannon Van Kirk
