Austin has agreed to chair the Standards committee for one more year.
The
committee spent the year reviewing extant ARLIS/NA standards and ARLIS/NA-sponsored
standards to see if any of them need to be updated.
The committee applied for and received $100.00 to defray the cost of
purchasing any standards necessary for all the committee members to review.
The committee will spend the next year (2002) reviewing the most outdated
standard.
The only NISO (National Information Standards Organization) event during the last calendar year of significance to ARLIS/NA was the adoption of ANSI/NISO Z39.85 - 2001 Dublin Core Metadata Element Set. The adoption of the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set will create uniformity in access to electronic documents parallel to the adoption of AACR2 for printed materials.
