Annual Report
(2001)
ARLIS/NA Collection Development Committee
This year the committee organized several sessions at the annual meeting; during the year, we made progress on two significant projects. Culminating several professional development workshops offered in recent years, Nancy Pistorius, Sarah Dickinson and Marilyn Healey organized a workshop on approval plans which was very well attended and received. Tim Shipe coordinated the first Collection Development Discussion Group at the conference as well, focusing on justification of the book budget to administrators. This session was also well received and we hope to continue to offer this as an annual event.
During the year, Paula Gabbard and Joy Kestenbaum compiled a massive list of art book dealers, a project which has been discussed for many years. I made progress in revamping the committee web site, to provide useful collection-development links and provide access to the dealers list, albeit in primitive form. We will work during the coming year on mechanisms to keep this site active and accurate. The address is now http://hcl.harvard.edu/finearts/colldev/.
Nancy Pistorius will become committee chair for the 2002-03 year.
Committee members currently include: Adeane Bregman, Paula Gabbard, Joy Kestenbaum, Nancy Pistorius, Tim Shipe, Deborah Barlow Smedstad, Lynne Woodruff, Laurie Whitehill Chong (Board Liaison).
