October 12-14: Annual Chapter Meeting, Houston, TX

Activities of the Chapter

Annual meeting was planned, starting in Pittsburgh, with the tremendous assistance of the Chapter Executive Committee and members residing in Houston. The annual meeting was attended by most of the current members of the chapter and was very successful. This was also the first joint meeting with members of the newly formed VRA/Texas Chapter. Summary reports on meeting sessions and tours can be read in The Medium 26/2, edited by Polly Trump. The 2000 directory and Vol. 26 of The Medium have resided on the Web site, exclusively, this year. This distribution method is made possible since all members now have access via institutional or personal Internet accounts. Our Web site home was established during the year, in that it was removed from space on a personal member’s account and given its own provider.

Interim Treasurer

*Note: Treasurer, Carl Close, resigned during the term. Incomplete banking and membership records made it impractical to reconstruct exact activities between January and June 30, 2000. However, approximate income and expenses were tallied and the Executive Committee agreed that it was best to start with July records and move forward.

Additional Comments:

2000 Lois Swan Jones Award went to Jon Evans, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. His report can be found in The Medium, 26/1.

2001 Lois Swan Jones Award Committee, chaired by Marty Stein, had an application deadline of December 1. Two awards of $500 each for the 29th ARLIS/NA conference in Los Angeles, CA were offered. The awards were presented to Brandon Pope and Joanna Cook.

The Chapter donated $250 toward the 29th Annual Conference Welcome Party.

Texas/Mexico members approved an increase in annual dues from $10 to $15.
