Chapter Meetings

No chapter meetings were held in 2000. Since many ARLIS/Ohio Valley chapter members were heavily involved in planning for the ARLIS/NA annual conference in Pittsburgh, there was little time for chapter meetings. However, a small contingent of ARLIS/OV members met informally in Pittsburgh during the annual conference. Among the topics discussed were a future chapter meeting in Indianapolis and whether or not the chapter should pay national dues for officers.

After the conference had taken place, there was little interest on the part of members in planning/attending a fall meeting. The chapter is however, planning a spring meeting for 2001.

Special Chapter Projects

The ARLIS/Ohio Valley chapter made several significant contributions to the ARLIS/NA annual conference in Pittsburgh:

$ 1,000.00 to the Welcome Party

$ 600.00 for Frank Lloyd Wright session

$ 600.00 for three guest speakers (member contributions matched by chapter funds)

The Chapter also authorized a $ 200.00 contribution to the LA conference Welcome Party.

Adrienne Varady, past ARLIS/Ohio Valley Chair, spear-headed a very successful fund-raising program for the chapter. Tee-shirts using a take-off on Warhol’s soup can were designed by a University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program and were sold to chapter members and other ARLIS/NA members. The effort was so successful that a second tee-shirt printing was necessary to fill orders.

Sara Jane Pearman, ARLIS/NA Conference Fund-Raising Chair organized a silent auction at the Pittsburgh conference which netted approximately $ 7,000.00. This effort was so popular (and successful) that the LA Conference chairs have decided to include a silent auction as part of the 2001 conference in LA.

Membership/Chapter Finances

There are currently 36 paid chapter members.

A balance of $ 1,550.41 is maintained in the chapter checking account.
