New Graphic Novels Special Interest Group Announced

The ARLIS/NA executive board has announced the approval of the Graphic Novels Special Interest Group (SIG). The group was formed to respond to the increase in graphic novel collections in academic libraries and the study of graphic novels in art and design schools, and other academic institutions.

The SIG was proposed by Tara Spies Smith, Texas State University-San Marcos, Abigail Sweeney, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and Richard Minsky, artist and bibliographer. Spies Smith will serve as the first coordinator of the SIG and will hold the its first meeting at the 2013 conference in Pasadena.
