Technology Education Committee Meeting Notes 3/8/98 Submitted by Peggy Keeran, University of Denver Present: Margaret Webster, Deborah Smedstad, Carole Pawloski, Joan Stahl, Judy Dyki, Peggy Keeran (Chair) The Technology Education Committee reviewed their assigned strategic planning action items, proposed projects to address these action items, discussed establishing a more formal relationship between the committee and Technology Relations Committee, and brainstormed about possible programs we could sponsor in Vancouver. Last year, the Board directed our committee to discover which local and national ARLIS members remained unconnected to the Internet, and to find ways to provide them with access. Our first order of business was to draft a letter to chapter officers seeking names of non-connected members as well as local internet providers who could be approached for donated internet access. Tech Ed members submitted a draft of the letter to the Board for approval. If approved, we will send out to chapter officers. We also discussed such issues as: surveying the membership to determine which systems are being used to access and manage collections; creating a web site to respond to technology questions, evaluate products, and information about vendors; and possible programs for the ARLIS meeting in 1999.
