The Department of the History of Art at the University of Michigan is seeking a full-time (non-tenure track) Head of our Visual Resources Collections and Media Services. We seek a dynamic leader with excellent communication skills to manage the department's visual resources collections (both digital and photographic), oversee its media services, and to serve as the liaison with other LSA collections and the campus library on digital imaging and collections life cycle management. The Head is responsible for the overall management of the collections, systems administration, planning, and user services. In conjunction with the Department Administrator, the Head also supervises personnel, participating in the hiring, training, and evaluation of VRC staff. Further responsibilities include overseeing the production, cataloging and standards compliance, and metadata management of visual collections; and maintaining a strategic vision and plan for the unit to meet the changing needs of the department. Finally, the Head also oversees the VRCs educational outreach initiatives (teaching faculty and students how to use the collection) as well as access to the departmental image archives.
