Position Description: The Coordinator of Library and Information Services is responsible for reviewing and working with senior leadership to implement the long-term strategy for Longwood’s Library, Archives, and Digital Gallery (Longwood’s DAM system). The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing specific heritage management plans and collection policies for the Library, Archives, and Digital Gallery to support Longwood’s Heritage Management Plan and Interpretive Plan. The incumbent is responsible for visioning, leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating efficient and effective operations and management of the Library, Archives, Digital Gallery, and related projects. The incumbent will implement and lead the actions of his/her staff to fulfill Longwood’s Strategic Plan with particular focus on collections and heritage management, outreach, facilities planning, and other initiatives designed to promote public and internal access to Longwood’s intellectual capital and information resources. Particular focus over the next five years will be on Longwood Gardens’ Special Collections and Archives with outreach, exhibition, preservation, digitization, and new interpretive and heritage management initiatives taking precedence.
Library and Information Services Unit Description: The Library, Archives, and Digital Gallery serve Longwood’s staff, students, volunteers, and guests by providing access to Longwood’s varied library, archival, and digital collections.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution and have demonstrated the development and successful implementation of innovative practices in his/her field and profession; however, candidates with a relevant Master’s degree and experience in library and archives management and administration will be considered. Knowledge and experience with cataloging is essential. Budget administration experience and familiarity with special library administration, project management, ILS and DAM system management, and trends in library and archives-related information technology preferred.
Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experience for this full-time, permanent position. Incumbent will have the opportunity to participate in Longwood’s comprehensive and competitive benefit programs.
