The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College Associate Librarian
The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, 90 miles north of New York City on the Hudson river, is seeking a full-time Associate Librarian to support an active graduate research center library. The Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS Bard) is an exhibition, education, and research center dedicated to the study of contemporary art and curatorial practices from the 1960’s to the present day. The Associate Librarian will assist in the day-to-day collection management and public service activities for the CCS Library including; technical services, processing, description, and cataloging, processing course reserves, providing access and public service activities, training & supervising work of student assistants, research and correspondence related to collection development projects.
The successful candidate will have their MLS (ALA-accredited) and a minimum of 2 years original and copy cataloging experience in an academic or research environment. In addition, demonstrated experience in the cataloging of non-print materials, including electronic resources is required. The successful candidate will have knowledge of reference resources, both print and electronic, for the contemporary arts, international contemporary art movements, artists, and communities and be detail-oriented, inquisitive and flexible, with good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
