Head Librarian – Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas is seeking a Head Librarian to plan, design, organize, execute, and oversee the staff, operations, and functions of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art Library and to ensure it aligns with the Museum’s objectives. The Head Librarian will also provide vision, direction and support for the overall administration and interpretation of the Library collection.

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Library Science, Information Science or equivalent; a demonstrated knowledge of Library of Congress Classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings, Indexing, OCLC First Search, on-line searching, and stand-alone cataloging software; extensive knowledge of professional museum principles, practices, and procedures; extensive knowledge of public reference service; knowledge of research tools and methodology; self direction and motivation.

Work Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years experience in an art library (museum, academic or public) and institutional archive; two (2) years experience supervising junior and support staff; demonstrated experience managing substantial department, project and program budgets
