The head librarian provides administrative supervision, oversight, direction, scheduling, and planning in a rapidly changing library environment. Strong supervisory skills and an ability to act as a liaison with faculty, staff, and administration are essential. The head librarian will oversee all staff activities related to special collections, reference and instruction, and the promotion of library collections and services, and also assess and communicate library needs in all areas including budgeting, staffing, infrastructure and technology. An M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited program, a degree in a subject taught at SCAD, and a minimum of three to five years of library and supervisory experience are required.
