Head of Special Collections and FIT Archives - Full Time Tenure Track
Fashion Institute of Technology, in Manhattan’s Chelsea section, is looking for a creative, enthusiastic, results-oriented leader to work with the Gladys Marcus Library and college faculty/staff to identify, create, deliver, and assess user-focused Library services to support the discovery, exchange, and advancement of research in the FIT community. This is a twelve-month, non-classroom faculty appointment.
Qualifications: An MLS from an ALA accredited school or an equivalent graduate degree in archival administration. Five or more years of progressive experience supervising staff in special collections or archives in an academic library. Knowledge of both traditional and digital methods associated with acquiring, preserving, describing, promoting, and making easily accessible the resources of Special Collections. Experience in handling rare books and manuscripts; professional accomplishments and publications; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and an interest in supporting the research needs of FIT’s growing graduate programs.
