Annual Report (2003)
ARLIS/NA Women In Art Round Table

Shannon Van Kirk, Moderator
Sara Harrington, Moderator-elect
Sue Clark, Secretary/Webmaster

Thanks are due Eumie Imm-Stroukoff for her able and dynamic leadership in 2002.

2003 turned out to be a difficult year for Moderator Shannon Van Kirk and for secretary/Webmaster Sue Clark. Shannon's husband required unexpected shoulder-replacement surgery out-of-state followed by months of time-consuming physical therapy requiring frequent travel and much attention.

Sue Clark suffered a serious tragedy shortly after ARLIS 2003: her house burned down. She has spent most of the past twleve months recovering while living out of temporary quarters. Our sympathy and best wishes go out to her as she is just now getting back on her feet. As soon as she is able, she will be updating the WomArt website and the following projects will be mounted. The online membership list will be updated as well.

Despite these unexpected hardships, a couple of projects discussed at the 2003 conference in Baltimore were started. Moderator Shannon Van Kirk prepared the first of what we hope will be a collection of bibliographies available on the website, "Contemporary Arab and Persian Women Artists."

Incoming Moderator Sara Harrington has started to put together a list of web resources related to women in Art. We hope to present some criteria for inclusion of links at the meeting in NYC which we hope will spark discussion among the membership.

Sara has also prepared a paper session for ARLIS 2004 which is related to our Round Table, "Expanding the Canon: Women Collectors and the Arts," which will focus on the historical and contemporary role of women collectors. This promises to become more than a discussion of female patronage in the Arts; the discussion will likely explore many of the roles of women in the arts.
