PAPER PUBLISHED

Occasional Paper No. 14, The Library and the Accreditation Process in Design Disciplines:  Best Practices, by Jeanne M. Brown, Paul Glassman, and Janine J. Henri, was published in November.  This is a practical guide for any professional participating in self-studies for accreditation applications.  Topics addressed include standards, the role of the librarian in the accreditation visit, and approaches to reporting on areas such as governance, collections, and finance.  Selected complete self-studies are included.  252 pages.  Spiral-bound.  $40.00.  ISBN 0-942740-20-3.

PAPER IN PROGRESS

Linda Roccos of the College of Staten Island will complete Ancient Greek Costume Studies: Annotated Bibliography, Commentaries, and Database.  To date no bibliography exists specifically for ancient Greek costume.  The bibliography will be considerably more comprehensive than any existing resource.  It includes works that are difficult to locate, works that are often not indexed under “costume” or “garments.” The proposed manuscript will include at least 450 annotated bibliographical references, a chronological list, and commentaries on themes of scholarly interest such as “Ancient Literary Sources,” “Textiles and Weaving,” “Female Garments,” “Macedonian Costume,” “Accessories,” and others.

PROMOTION

The Library and the Accreditation Process in Design Disciplines:  Best Practices was promoted through a broadside, serving as a print and Web advertisement and including an order form. It was also announced on ARLIS-L.  The paper was listed in Books in Print and was announced over several group electronic-mail lists.  Its forthcoming publication was announced at meetings of the Academic Division, Art & Design School Division, Visual Resources Division, Architecture Section, and the Standards Committee.  It was promoted to each of the accrediting agencies as well.
