2003 Events

Giovanna Jackson, 2003 Moderator-Elect, became Moderator when Sheryl L. Wilhite completed her appointment at the 2003 ARLIS conference in Baltimore, MD.  Due to a family illness, Jackson resigned as Moderator in July 2003.  Susan Miller became Moderator until a job change caused her to resign in November 2003; Jackson resumed her position at this time. In January 2004, Corey Schultz became Vice-Moderator 2003/Moderator Elect 2004.

Activities

Participated and solicited opinions regarding the joint ARLIS-VRA Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources and Image Management, to be held July 7-10, 2004 at Duke University in North Carolina.

After the Visual Resources Advisory Committee (VRAC) was dissolved, VRD Moderator became the official ARLIS liaison to VRA.

Issues for the Executive Board

The dissolution of the VRAC (Visual Resources Advisory Committee) has modified the VRD Moderator position. These modifications should be clarified.

Discussed establishing a conference travel award for VR professionals last year; awaiting Executive Board suggestions and approval.

VRD was also previously discussing the "History of VR Profession" project that has been undertaken by several members.  Need to reopen this discussion and evaluate the progress.

Respectfully submitted,
