Activities:
13 members attended the Women
and Art Round Table meeting at the ARLIS/NA-VRA 2002 Conference in St. Louis.
The following topics were discussed during the meeting:
maintaining the moderator as a one-year, not a two-year, position; the
Women and Art Round Table web site; conference session proposals; the Update
column; the Women and Art listserv; and ideas to promote the Women and Art Round
Table. The Women and Art Round Table changed its acronym from WART
to WomART at the 2002 ARLIS/NA-VRA conference in Saint Louis.
Pat Siska wrote the Update
column for the October 2002 issue of Update.
Ruth Wallach submitted the latest column for the Update, which
will discuss the recent exhibition at the National Museum for the Women in the
Arts.
WomART member, Sharon
Wasserman, submitted the session proposal, Patrons not Patronized:
Women Collectors and Patrons of the Arts in Baltimore and Washington.
It was not selected for the Baltimore conference.
The conference committee suggested that WomART consider submitting of a
similar proposal for the conference in New York.
Susan Clarke and Eumie Imm-Stroukoff worked together to update the web site to include current information about the WomART. Susan Clarke updated and transferred the site from Netscape Communicator to Microsoft Front Page. Eumie contacted Jonathan Franklin in order to link the WomART web site to the ARLIS/NA web site. Eumie also reviewed the papers from the WomART to determine what should be included in the web site. Carole Goldsmith continues to maintain the WomART listserv.
