ACTIVITIES

Twelve attended the Decorative Arts Round Table (DART) business meeting on March 24, 2003 at the ARLIS/NA conference in St. Louis.  As with many DART meetings, the central focus was a discussion of panels or workshops that could be created for the next ARLIS/NA conference.   The group supported the idea that DART should continue to act as a discussion group for those interested in design, decorative art, and craft and that –though round tables would not actually sponsor a session – the annual meeting business meeting was a good forum for formulating and promoting panels of interest to ARLIS members.   Several panel proposals for the Baltimore conference were discussed.    It was decided that DART should pursue three themes: Baltimore collectors (Linda Seckelson); traditional decorative arts associated with the Baltimore region –quilts-furniture-silver (Elizabeth Broman [Cooper-Hewitt Museum]& Kathy Woodrell [Library of Congress]); and Cabinets of Curiosity (Greta Earnest & Stephen Van Dyk).

Linda Seckelson and Stephen Van Dyk were elected co-moderators for DART for 2003.
