Executive Board Activities:

Attended Executive Board Pre - and Post Conference Meetings in St. Louis, 2002.

Attended Midyear Board meeting in New York, August 2002

Served as Board liaison to Standards Committee, Publications Committee,  Public Policy Committee, and New Art RoundTable.

Updated and revised together with Laurie Whitehill Chong the Chapter Success Book . This new version is now available on AWS.

As outgoing Midwest Regional Representative am in the process together with Laurie Whitehill Chong to organize the Leadership Breakfast for the upcoming annual ARLIS/NA Conference in Baltimore.

Regional Activities:

Attended three Midwestern chapter meetings:

ARLIS/Ohio Valley chapter (May 24, University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky)

ARLIS/Central Plains (October 17-19, Nelson Atkins Museum, Kansas City, Kansas)

ARLIS/Midstates (Nov.1, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL)

Committee Activities:

As Board liaison, communicated with and kept all three committees (Standards, Publications, and Public Policy) informed of upcoming deadlines for reports, budget requests, etc.

Publications Committee:

Attended two Publications committee meetings at the annual conference in St. Louis.  Communicated with various committee members and liaised with the Board on various issues concerning Art Doc, Update, Ops, and other issues such as Facilities Standards and AWS publications.  This is a very active committee that deals with many issues concerning ARLIS/NA publications.

Public Policy Committee:

Attended committee meeting in St. Louis.  This was a very lively joint meeting with VRA that was attended by many members.  As Board liaison communicated with co-chairs during the year.  Another very active and lively committee.

Standards Committee:

Attended committee meeting in St. Louis.  This committee might need some help.

New Art Round Table:

Had difficulties at the last conference because the moderator was unable to attend, but an enthusiastic member became the new moderator.  This Round Table has many good ideas and put together a well attended session at last year's conference.

Chapter Activities:

Sent introductory letter, reminders, and other correspondence and follow-ups via e-mail to all chapter chairs on a regular basis reminding them of various deadlines, board meetings, and other issues.

Sent thank you letters and congratulatory letters to all outgoing chapter chairs and incoming chairs in the Midwest region.  Invited them specifically to the Leadership Breakfast at the next ARLIS/NA conference in Baltimore.

Two of the chapters (Midstates and Central Plains) pledged contributions to the  Welcome Party of the next conference.

During the year sent minutes, membership lists, and annual reports to Headquarters.  I am still waiting to receive annual reports from some chapters.

ARLIS/Central Plains Chapter - met twice in 2002, first on June 7 in Lindsborg, Kansas at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery, and on October 17-19 at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. The chapter organized a very successful joint conference of ARLIS/NA/  and VRA.

This chapter continues the "Central Plains Irregular", a chapter newsletter published on a regular basis. The ARLIS/Central Plains chapter is very active and well organized.

ARLIS/Midstates Chapter - met twice, in the spring on May 31 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, and in the fall on November 1 at the Deering Library, Northwestern University, Chicago.

The Midstates chapter is in the process of promoting chapter membership and recruiting more members, especially students from regional library schools.

The chapter web site is up and running.  This chapter also proposed holding only  one chapter meeting in the region (in the fall) and to meet on a more informal basis at annual conferences.  The chapter is becoming again more active after overcoming some chapter problems.

ARLIS/Ohio Valley Chapter - met twice in 2002, the spring meeting took place on May 24 at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky and the fall meeting was on October 11 at Cleveland State University.

This chapter also proposed having one regularly scheduled meeting per calendar year (in May or June) rather than two. This chapter maintains a well designed and up-to-date web site. The chapter newsletter, "Collage", was published again twice in 2002.

The Chapter now pays the current base rate toward ARLIS/NA membership fees for the elected officers who would otherwise pay out-of-pocket.

This chapter is also in good shape.

ARLIS/Twin Cities Chapter - met twice in 2002, on January 16 at the Photographic Arts Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and on July 22 at the Minnesota Historical Society, St. Paul, Minnesota.  This chapter also wants to reach out to other librarians who might be interested in joining this chapter. For now the previous problems they had of filling the position of officers are resolved. This problem can occur again because it is a small but very dedicated chapter

This chapter also has a web site now. I was again unable to attend any chapter meetings because the meetings were announced too late.
