Meetings
Spring
May
18, 2001. G.
Robert Strauss, Jr. Memorial Library, Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Recommendations regarding technical and editing work were made to enhance
the Chapter’s Arts & Crafts Survey.
These enhancements will make online version easier to use.
A report was made about the process of changing the chapter by-laws.
The discussion included separating the office of Secretary/Treasurer into
two distinct offices, changing the title of newsletter editor to “publications
editor”, and having the membership statement more inclusive, mirroring the
statement in the ARLIS/NA By-laws.
Presentation on Chapter promotional activities included ideas for a
Chapter mug and a new Chapter brochure.
Discussion on the mug resulted in final decisions so an order for them
could be made.
The new Chapter brochure will have a more flexible layout for the
changing names of Secretaries and addresses.
We also discussed some general ideas about local out reach to students
pursuing work toward art librarianship.
Fall
November
2, 2001. Memorial
Art Gallery, Rochester, New York.
The bylaw changes were looked over and discussed.
Suggestions for editing were noted.
A formal ballot will be prepared and mailed to the membership.
The new Chapter brochures were handed out.
The Chapter mugs were looked at and will be sold at the end of the
business meeting.
A discussion on Chapter outreach included the ideas of visiting colleges
with MLS programs; mentoring students; and arranging practicums for students.
More discussion will be needed on this topic.
Discussion on revising our Chapter handbook was held.
The decision to look over the handbook was made with a recommendation to
discuss the changes at the next meeting.
The candidates (one each) for Vice-President/President elect and
Secretary/Treasurer were voted upon and approved by the membership.
2002
meetings
If
is hoped that the spring meeting can be held at Alfred University.
The ARLIS/NE Chapter has asked if a joint meeting with ARLIS/WNY would be
feasible in fall, 2002.
Plans were made to contact the appropriate people at Alfred and ARLIS/NE.
Respectfully
submitted,
