Vacant at present (Chair-Elect had to resign)
met three times in 2001. The first meeting took place on March 13th at the new
Elmer Andersen Library on the University of Minneapolis campus. Barb Bezat was
our tour guide to the Manuscripts Collections. We met at 9:00 am for our
business meeting and the tour commenced at 9:30.
met on July 26th at the Walker Art Center for a tour of the Alice
Neel show with Barb Elam (Slide Librarian and Tour Guide). Alice Neel's daring
portraits of people and places are among the most insightful images in
20th-century American art. This exhibition is the first full-scale examination
of her inspiring and provocative work and marks the centennial of the artist's
birth. Organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, it covers nearly 60 years of
work and features more than 100 paintings and works on paper, many of which have
never been previously exhibited in a museum.
November 13 we met at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). The
Walker Art Center provided coffee and pastries. Our Chair, Walter Gegner had to
resign his position due to a change in work assignments so the Chair-Elect,
Deborah Jindra, led the meeting. Rebecca A. Moss took Jill Vetter’s place as
Secretary/Treasurer because she had to miss the meeting. The discussion centered
on plans for upcoming meetings and tours. We also voted to raise the dues to
$10.00 per year. The Chapter approved the donation of
$100 to the ARLIS/NA VRA joint conference and we decided to provide a
Chapter basket for the conference Silent Auction.
meeting will be January 16 at the pARTs Gallery
for a tour of tour "Roger Mertin: In Minnesota, 1991 – 2001." George
Slade, the curator of the show and a former librarian at the Walker Art Center
has agreed to give us a tour. Also on the agenda is the election of a new Chair
26 members at present, though not all are active. We hope in the next membership
drive to confirm those who are currently active, re-connect with those who have
let their membership slip and attract new members.
12/08/00 - $312.19
Chair-Elect also had to resign after briefly becoming chair, so this report was
prepared by Rebecca A. Moss, Secretary/Treasurer.
