Chapter Meetings
The Ohio Valley Chapter held a
spring and a fall meeting in 2001. The spring meeting was a joint one with the
Great Lakes VRA Chapter on May 11th at Miami University, Oxford,
Ohio. The day included tours of the MU slide library, art and architecture
library, architecture school, and museum. A total of twenty-eight people
attended. The fall meeting was held on October 5th at the Toledo
Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio, with the option of staying an added day to attend a
symposium on Michelangelo held at the Museum. Nine members attended the
afternoon business meeting.
Activities
During 2001, two issues (spring
and fall) of the chapter newsletter, COLLAGE, were published. The chapter
website was heavily revised and moved to a new internet address. At the end of
the year a referendum was put to the membership for the Chapter to pay the
current base rate (now $65.00) toward ARLIS/NA membership fees for those elected
officers who would otherwise pay out-of-pocket. The outcome of this vote is not
yet known. A contribution of $500.00 was made to the 2002 ARLIS/NA conference in
St. Louis in honor of ARLIS/OV’s 25th anniversary.

There were 38 new and renewing
members in 2001.

Other comments
The year 2001 marks the 25th
anniversary of the ARLIS/Ohio Valley Chapter. The Chapter began its existence in
1976 as ARLIS/Ohio. Upon the dissolution of the Allegheny Chapter of ARLIS/NA in
1984, ARLIS/Ohio expanded its boundaries to include Western Pennsylvania. In
1996 when the ARLIS/Kentucky-Tennessee-West Virginia Chapter disbanded, Kentucky
and West Virginia merged with ARLIS/Ohio, and the Chapter was renamed ARLIS/Ohio
Valley.
