Robert Kaufmann & Stephen Van Dyk were named DART's co-moderators at the round table's business meeting in Pittsburgh in March 2000. They are working on the plenary session for ARLIS/NA conference to be held in L.A. in March 2001 that will be called "Hollywood Design: Decadence, Glamour, Fantasy, Modernism, and Opulence in 20th century California". The session, co-sponsored by the Diversity Committee, the Gay & Lesbian Interests Round Table, and the Architecture Section, will feature four panelists speaking about movie sets, architecture, and interior design in Hollywood. DART is also sponsoring a session at ARLIS/NA in L.A. entitled "The Arts and Crafts Movement in Southern California" that will be moderated by Elizabeth Broman, reference librarian at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. A third session entitled "Reconstructing Modernism: Research & Documentation of Los Angeles' Architectural Masterworks" is co-sponsored by the Architecture Section and DART and will be moderator by Paul Glassman, Librarian at the New York School of Interior Design. DART's business meeting will be held on April 1st at the ARLIS/NA conference. At this meeting, a moderator will be elected, ideas for the St. Louis conference will be presented, and the creation of a list of decorative arts related web-sites will be discussed. At the ARLIS/NA conference in Pittsburgh, it was suggested that the round table name be changed to include "material culture". The ARLIS/NA Board rejected this suggestion feeling that "material culture" was already implied in our current name.
