This year the committee pursued several important projects which were broached at the annual meeting in Pittsburgh.  Our proposal for a Collection Development Discussion Group was accepted for the Los Angeles conference; Tim Shipe is coordinating this project which we hope will become a permanent part of the conference.  The workshop offered last year on collection development fostered numerous requests for a focused session on approval plans; this will be offered as a workshop this year, organized by Nancy Pistorius, Sarah Dickinson and Marilyn Healey.  The Occasional Paper Collection Development Policies for Libraries & Visual Resources Collections in the Arts, a major effort of committee members Ann Whiteside, Pamela Born and Adeane Bregman, was published.

Other issues which remain to be addressed in future years include collection development standards for various types of libraries and a directory of out-of-print dealers.  We will also move, revamp and revitalize the committee web site in order to make it more useful to the membership.

I will remain as committee chair for the 2001-02 year.  Committee members include:

Adeane Bregman, Paula Gabbard, Paul Glassman, Joy Kestenbaum, Ursula Kolmstetter, Nancy Pistorius, Inge Reist, Tim Shipe, Deborah Barlow Smedstad, Sonja Staum-Kuniej, Lynne Woodruff.
