Alternative Voices Speakers Fund

Purpose:

The Alternative Voices Speakers Fund was established in 2008 to bring a diversity of voices to the ARLIS/NA annual conference by encouraging the participation of non-ARLIS/NA speakers from traditionally underrepresented racial or ethnic groups. The fund supports attendance costs (travel, hotel, and meal expenses) and a small honorarium for recommended speakers who self-identify with one or more traditionally underrepresented racial or ethnic groups.

Eligibility:

Non-ARLIS/NA members who self-identify with one or more traditionally underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, and whose names have been proposed to participate as conference speakers by program proposers or Conference Program Chairs.

Selection Process:

Fund recipients will be selected annually by the Conference Program Chair/s, with input from the Diversity Committee. The final decision will reside with the Program Chair/s.

Funding:

Funding amount is recommended as $1500, although this may be increased with ARLIS/NA Executive Board approval.

Should you care to lend your financial support to this fund, please contact the ARLIS/NA Development Chair, Kathryn Wayne, for more details.
