Space Planners Round Table Meeting
In
attendance: Susan Koskinen, Alba Fernandez-Keys, Susan Trauger, Bonnie Reed, Henry
Pisciotta, Rijn Templeton, Judy Connorton, Michael Hassett, Cate Cooney.
Meeting
was called to order by Co-Moderators Susan Koskinen and Alba Fernandez-Keys at
3:30 PM. The meeting began with
individual introductions. Each attendee briefly described the stage of the
project at their institutions.
It
was suggested by some members to keep a list of resources used during library
planning and moving for those who may need this type of information in the
future.
Alba
Fernandez-Keys (Indianapolis Museum of Art) and Judy Connorton (City College of
New York) agreed to be co-moderators for the upcoming year.
Susan
Koskinen reminded everyone that the SPRT website can be found at: http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/~skoskine/spaceplanners.html
. She is willing to host the site for
another year but would like another member of SPRT to take over as
webmaster. It was also suggested that
the SPRT website provide a link to the Association of Architecture School
Librarians since many of the AASL papers on planning are available on their
site.
Several
members brought up questions and received feedback from others in the
group. Some of the topics discussed
were: how to maintain minimal access and open hours during construction;
signage as part of the construction project; library lighting; where does
compact shelving fit in the construction budget; hiring professional library
movers vs. student workers; libraries with green designs.
Meeting
was adjourned at 4:30
