Art Libraries Society of North America 31st Annual Conference
Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland - March 20-26, 2003

Space Planners Roundtable

Meeting held on Saturday March 22, 2003

Minutes

1.      Meeting was called to order by Susan Koskinen, moderator.  Susan welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming.

2.      Alba Fernandez, from the Indianapolis Museum of Art, agreed to be the new co-moderator.

3.      There was a discussion regarding the status and mission of the Space Planners Roundtable.  Those attending the meeting generally agreed that the Roundtable could become discussion group but not without problems.  Attendance always varies and is usually predicated on those members that have a current or future building project.  One idea proposed was that a formally designated moderator could organize a meeting before each conference.

There was also discussion about identifying members before the conference, who have projects in all phases.  It would be nice to have such a list on the roundtable web site.  One problem with just making the space planners a discussion group is who will lead it… generally there is good attendance at the meeting but without formal status who will lead is a problem.  Additionally members need the documentation of participating in a group, to get conference attendance funding.

4.      There was discussion on proposal ideas for the New York conference.  A session on moving a library was suggested.

5.      Members discussed building projects with input from others.

Some of the projects discussed were:

                        Hillwood Museum
                        Cleveland Museum of Art
                        RISD
                        Princeton Art and Architecture Library
                        School of Visual Arts, NYC
                        University of Iowa
                        Indianapolis Museum of Art
