approved the Administrative Documents Editor position with some minor changes to
the job description, along with honoraria. This person will sit on the committee and will be hired by

filled quickly since deadlines for Handbook/Directory and Conference Proceedings
are approaching.

Library and the Accreditation Process in Design Disciplines:
Best Practices, should be will be published during the summer and
that it can be promoted without advertising costs.
Linda Roccos, the author of the forthcoming Occasional Paper #15, Ancient
Greek Costume Studies: Annotated
Bibliography and Commentaries, is confident that the 50 copies of the
initial print run will sell quickly at $40.00 each. The top selling publication this year, with gross revenues of
approximately $9,000, was Occasional Paper #13, Library
Instruction for Students in Design Disciplines: Scenarios, Exercises, Techniques.

and would like to consider adding advertising in color.
d.
ARLIS/NA Update
Linda
Zieper reported that Jonathan Franklin has been posting Update to the Web site very efficiently. She has investigated PWNewsmaker, which was suggested at last
year’s conference, and it does not seem to be suitable for this publication.
e.
ARLIS/NA Web site

Peck Learned reported for Jonathan Franklin, who was unable to attend.
The content on the Web site is generally stable, although the site could
benefit from the addition of images. Jonathan
Franklin was thanked for the excellent job that he has done this year.
OLD
BUSINESS
a.
Update software subcommittee
If
ARLIS/NA would like to produce Update using
different software, this can still be investigated, even though it is felt that
the format shouldn’t be changed at this time.
Daniel Starr reported that now that there is a $20 charge for the print
edition of Update; he felt that the
format need not be changed now, but that investigation into other software that
could improve the graphic design should continue.
b.
Facilities Standards revision
An
addendum to Facilities Standards for Art Libraries and Visual Resources
Collections, edited by Betty Jo Irvine (Englewood, Colo.:
Libraries Unlimited, 1991) is needed.
B. J. Irvine would be willing to work with committee and would like to
enlist someone with a technology background as well.

Documentation
Betsy
Peck Learned reported that she has a job description and will forward to Paul
Glassman for posting, with the goal an appointment by the fall.

Members' directory on the ARLIS Web site
Headquarters
will find out from Webmaster, Derek Crosley, what would be the best way to
resolve the absence of certain components of the address field.
b.
System for advertising
The
chairs seek a committee member to develop a report on recommended advertising
strategies, to include costs and venues. There
were no volunteers, and the chairs will examine how best to assemble this
information.
c.
Design of the ARLIS Web site
Paul
Glassman reported that Jonathan Franklin will soon be revising the publications
pages of the Web site. Jonathan is interested in assessing the larger design of the
site, and the committee should develop recommendations to be submitted to the
Executive Board.
d.
Electronic publishing
The
committee discussed the need for guidelines and criteria for Occasional Papers
and other publications in electronic format.
Some articles in Art Documentation would benefit from electronic
publication, since bibliographies in that publication often contain many URLs.
A pilot program might begin with a issue of Art Documentation, which
would require Executive Board approval.
e.
Filling vacant editorial positions
As
indicated above, the chairs have assembled a committee to interview candidates
for the position of Co-Editor, Art Documentation.
Two candidates are scheduled so far for interviews at the conference.
